The suspect was arrested in connection with the Hit and Rank-Slash, which killed his grandfather in Orange County.

The suspect was identified as Francis Guadalupe Tercero Benavidez, 24, of Anaheim, according to the Irvine Police Department.

On May 9, 2024, victim Allen Yangkau Lee, 67, was driving north on Culver Drive towards Trabco Road, Irvine at around 4:30pm.

As he handed the intersection, Dashcam Video peered out the suspect’s vehicle and turned right at a red light. The sudden movement forces Allen to swing Allen around to avoid colliding with her.

The swivel left Allen losing control of his car before turning it over. His vehicle collided with a central center, a tree and a light pole before landing on the roof.

Tercero Benavides, who was driving a Beige Honda Civic, did not stop to help Lee and escaped from the scene. The paramedics rushed Lee to the hospital and died of injuries on May 13th.

Two days later, when detectives continued searching for Tercero-benavides, they received tips from the public and helped them find the Honda Civic parked in a residential area in Great Park.

An identification document belonging to Tercero-benavides was found inside the car. The detective worked to find women, but the job proved difficult as he reportedly moved around frequently.

On July 3, 2025, she was arrested in the 1600 block of Anaheim Boulevard, Anaheim. She was booked at Orange County Jail on vehicle manslaughter and felony hit and run charges.

“The Irvine Police Department would like to thank those who provided important tips that led to the arrest of Tercero Benavidez,” a department official said.

The family described Lee as a loving father and grandfather who always brought joy to the people of his life.

“He was a very generous and extremely caring man,” said Elaine Lee, the daughter of the victim. “He was everything. It was so sudden and it really feels like there’s a hole. He was torn unfairly out of our lives.”
