A Southern California woman has been arrested on suspicion of operating a brothel out of skin care spas she owns in Ventura and Orange counties.
The suspect was identified as Amanda Shea, 44, of Yorba Linda, according to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office.
In early 2024, detectives began investigating Swan Spa, located in the 100 block of North Rancho Road in Thousand Oaks, after receiving reports that it was allegedly operating as a commercial sex shop.
Authorities said they found evidence that Mr. Shea was reaping financial benefits from the illegal services his employees were providing to customers.
Xia also owned three other spa facilities, which investigators identified as brothels involved in similar illegal sex activities.
“Detectives were able to positively identify multiple men suspected of purchasing commercial sex acts at each of the four locations investigated,” officials said.
Shea was arrested at his home in Orange County on charges of pimping, pandering and money laundering.
On November 13, search warrants were executed for the suspect’s home and all four spa facilities:
Swan Spa – 100 block of North Rancho Road Thousand Oaks Star Spa – 400 Black of North Ventu Park Road, Newbury Park Victoria Spa – Lake Forest, 23,000 block of El Toro Road Four Seasons Spa – Lake Forest, 20,000 block of Lake Forest Drive
This coordinated operation involved multiple agencies, including the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office, Ventura County District Attorney’s Office, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
Xia was taken into custody and held on $100,000 bail.
“The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the public for their continued support and due diligence in providing information to assist the agency in solving crimes,” officials said.
