The second day of the short heat wave is expected to bring the hottest temperatures of the week to Southern California.
“So it’s another day of triple girders heat in some places, but don’t worry, this will be the last day you have to deal with this,” KTLA’s Kirk Hawkins said in a prediction Thursday morning.
Afternoon highs are expected to be around 10 degrees above normal in most areas, including the San Fernando Valley, with afternoon highs above about 103.
In parts of Riverside and San Bernardino counties, hot, 107 degrees hot advisories are present until 8pm.

The National Weather Service (NWS) stated that as the winds in the mountains and interiors increase with warm temperatures and rather low humidity, the risk of fire increases, resulting in strong winds.
Southern California Edison (SCE) is considering a public safety suspension (PSP) for thousands of customers on Thursday. Updated PSPS information can be found by visiting the SCE website and clicking the link in the Public Safety Power Shut-off (PSPS) box.
The public was urged to stay hydrated, take frequent breaks, wear light clothes and shift outdoor activities early in the morning and evening, where possible.
The extreme heat break is expected to begin on Friday. “I look forward to the weekend where temperatures are expected to be at least a little more mild,” Kirk said.
