The green apron worn by Starbucks employees is so iconic that it is named after its own coffee blend.
Now, the company streamlines its dress codes for its employees, so green aprons can “create sparkle and familiarity” for customers no matter what store they visit.
Starting May 12, the company will require that you wear simple colors, including solid black short or long-sleeved crew necks, collars or button-up shirts, according to its website, with khaki, black or blue denim bottoms.
Additionally, the company will offer branded T-shirts to its partners for free.
“Updating the dress code will allow us to provide a more consistent coffee house experience that brings simple and clearer guidance to our partners,” the company’s statement said, “We can focus on what’s most important and encourage connections with our customers.”
The change appears to align with the company’s “back to Starbucks” strategy under CEO Brian Brian Nicole, who took on the role in August.
Under Niccol, the company simplified its menu to facilitate Baristas workloads and reduced latency. We also eliminated the extra drink fees with non-dairy milk and included a “Feel Good” message in our coffee cups.
