Rep. Elise Stefanik, a leading Trump ally rumoured to be planning a 2026 governor’s run, fought back violently against New York’s Democratic Gov. Kathy Hochul, calling her “the worst governor in America.”
In a social media post Friday, Hochul accused Stefanik of voting, “putting five hospitals on chopping blocks and putting their members at risk of the lives, health and work, all to help Donald Trump.”
“I don’t support that. I’m fighting like hell to save New Yorkers’ healthcare,” Hochul said.
In response, Stefanik posted to X on “Hello @KathyHochul! Welcome the Fight.”

“When you testified, did you not be exposed enough in our final round and fully exposed due to the sanctuary policies that failed at your risk? Let’s do Medicaid now,” she wrote.
Stefanik has accused Hochul of giving Medicaid benefits to illegal immigrants “making New Yorkers the most vulnerable.”
“NY’s Medicaid program ramps under Cathy’s watch with hundreds of billions of waste, fraud and abuse,” she wrote. “America’s worst governor, Kathy Hochul, oversees the worst Run Medicaid program in a country that hurts Nyers. Medicaid is a very important program I’ve worked to strengthen for New Yorkers.”
The New York lawmaker added, “Yeah, Kathy, your numbers in rural New York are falling sharply,” and “I’m nationally recognized to provide rural hospital results for my work in the district hospital.”

In another post, Stefanik said, “Oh Kathy. I’m glad I set a recent schedule. From setting a tweet schedule to forcing the Communist mayor who won the Democratic Party in New York to tweet, to scrambling to go to Saranac Lake for news stories.
This comes after Stefanik pressured Hochur to say whether he supported Mayor Zoran Mamdani’s new Democratic candidate, who has issued a controversial statement that criticizes Israel, promotes Palestine and identifies him as a democratic socialist.
Hochul has since said that she has planned to meet with Mamdani to discuss his ideas for the city, but has not yet issued full approval.
As a leader of the New York Democrats, Stefanik said that Hokul “has fully embraced the anti-Semitic communist candidate,” adding that “she owns this catastrophe.”
Can this top Trump allies beat the Republican two-year winning streak in this important state?
