The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office said Monday afternoon that officers recovered a stolen recreational vehicle in Palm Desert and seized a cache of firearms.
RCSD said in a news release that police found the stolen RV in the 74000 block of Leslie Avenue just before 4 p.m. and took Shayne Hiemstra, 37, of Palm Desert into custody.
“During the investigation, a search warrant was executed at the scene and illegal firearms, narcotics, and a 3D printer were discovered,” the release states. “Police also discovered an unsecured, loaded firearm in the boy’s bedroom.”

Images shared by the department show at least eight handguns, five partial handguns, six long guns, multiple boxes of ammunition and five pipes.
Hiemstra is charged with eight felonies, including vehicle theft, child endangerment, drug and gun charges.
He is being held at the John Benoit Detention Center in lieu of $35,000 bail and is scheduled to appear at the Indio Larson Justice Center on Thursday.
