The man arrested last Friday for stealing a truck and crashing into several cars during a high-speed pursuit in Los Angeles County, faces 11 felony charges, including attempted murder, the district attorney said.
The pursuit unfolded on live television and ended with a violent multi-car stake at the intersection of Long Beach.
On Thursday, the LA County District Attorney announced that 40-year-old Adam James Bowen was charged with one count of murder and attempted carjacking, four count assaults with a deadly weapon and two hit-and-run attacks.
Da Nathan Hochman said Bowen first tried to carjack the tow truck operator and then drive him in his own car. The victim was “a serious injury,” Hochman said.

A few hours later, Bowen is said to have stole a white flatbed truck.
The pursuit began near the University of Southern California, where the suspect ran through several communities and collided with his innocent driver trying to escape.
In Long Beach, in the Sky5 footage, the driver wipes some cars sideways and E. We ran a red light at the intersection of 7th Street and Termino Avenue. There, a truck slammed two other vehicles and rolled into the parking lot.
The suspect then tripped out of his car and casually walked down the street before several officers tackled him on the sidewalk.
“This was a very reckless and brave act that could endanger the lives of other drivers and pedestrians and have far more tragic consequences,” Hochman said in a statement. “The level of ruthless neglect for public safety is unacceptable. In this case, we actively pursue justice for all victims.”
If convicted in all respects, Bowen faces the potential for living in prison.
