Residents claiming the burglars were breaking into mailboxes at a Studio City building took matters into their hands when they tracked down and stood up the suspect on Tuesday night.

KTLA’s Annie Rose Ramos was told by residents of the 4200 block of Longridge Avenue complex that a local postman had his master key taken away several weeks ago and was mailed several times thereafter.

“For the past few weeks, we have had gentlemen breaking into the building,” one resident said. “We reported it to the police. We reported it to the detectives and the post office is aware of it.”

Friday’s surveillance video shows the suspect using keys to enter the box and throw everything he finds in a brown paper bag.

The flyer appears to warn others to keep an eye on thieves. “Please check your email every day as theft occurred between 12am and 4am,” reads some of the flyers.

On Tuesday night, a group of residents went out looking for the suspect and found him.

Timothy Bremer, a member of the group, said he tried to drive away his phone when he went to record him. Brehmer scattered the suspects, scattered the suspects, and he scrambled into the car.

The group, including Brehmer, attempted to stop the suspect and kick him out of the jeep.

“He pulled out the knife… I didn’t know if he stabbed me, but blood got blood everywhere. I think it’s fine,” Bremer said.

Bremer says he can’t see if he tried to drive because he broke the suspect’s windshield with a baseball bat.

Officers responded to the scene around 11:13pm, but the suspect left the site, a Los Angeles Police Department spokesman confirmed to KTLA.

The video showed Bremers being handled on the scene because of what was described as minor injuries by authorities.

Police are still searching for suspects who are believed to have fled to the scooter.

Alexis Lewis of KTLA contributed to this report.
