Yosemite National Park has announced that it has begun bookings for summer camps at many popular campsites after the new booking system and staff cuts have caused delays and questions about when it will be available again.
Date reservations for campsites at Upper Pines, Wahna and Hodgdon Meadow are now available Monday at 7am. Reservations dated from July 15th to August 14th will be open at 7am on March 31st. You can make a reservation at Recreation.gov.
In February, the National Park Service received approval from President Trump’s administration for its new reservation system, while bookings were delayed indefinitely.
It was then unclear when bookings would be available again by wiping out the federal workforce announced by the administration a few days later. Approximately 10% of Park Service staff is lost amid the cuts, with hundreds of acquisitions offered by managers.
However, on March 20th, the National Park Conservation Association. It has been announced that all probation park staff who were fired the previous month have been allowed to revive. The group said the job posting caused a delay in bookings.
Yosemite National Park had over 4 million visitors last year. Visits peak on average between June and August, according to Park Service Statistics.
