The Supreme Court on Monday agreed to take on the Republican-led agenda for US campaign finance restrictions, which limits the amount political parties can spend on behalf of a particular candidate.
The case, the National Republican Senators Committee vs. Federal Election Committee, originally appealed to court by the National Republican Senators Committee (NRSC) and the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC), appealed within current President JD Vance on behalf of two Senate Republican candidates who were elected in 2022.
It focuses on whether federal restrictions on campaign spending from political parties violate First Amendment protections, including freedom of speech under the US Constitution.

This incident comes as federal election spending reached record highs. According to FEC figures, the presidential candidate in 2024 raised at least $2 billion, spending around $1.8 billion in 2024.
