Southern California’s surprise surprise Heat Wave is expected to break down on Saturday evenings and Saturday evenings, according to the National Weather Service.
After the grey day ended, a sharp rise in temperature hit the area on Friday, marking record highs for forest hills at 102 degrees and Burbank at 98 degrees. Saturday is set to be another scorcher, with more records possible with the San Fernando Valley and coastal temperatures reaching the ’80s.
However, the mini heat wave is likely to end as quickly as it began, and the temperature is expected to cool down about 5 degrees by Mother’s Day. NWS meteorologist Mike Wofford predicts that Sunday temperatures will be in the ’80s in Rabasin, the ’90s in the valley, and the ’70s to mid-’70s, the ’70s to mid-’70s, according to NWS meteorologist Mike Wofford.
“This is usually a pretty shocking season type. In May, there’s usually no real extremes. Yesterday was a kind of exception in terms of heat,” Wofford says.
On Monday, the temperatures are expected to be much cooler as the fog rolls and the breeze returns, with temperatures from the 60s to mid-70s below average. By Tuesday, grey days are expected to return, with drizzling and light rain available, Wofford said.
