A 37-year-old woman was hit and killed by a Hollywood hit-and-run driver and broke a wide circle of her husband and loved one a month after being killed – police confirmed they had arrested a suspected man behind the wheel.
The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed he was arrested by KTLA on Thursday and identified the suspect as Davontay Robbins. He is accused of fleeing the scene after attacking Erica Edwards on the night of June 29th.
According to LAPD, the crash occurred just after 9pm near the intersection of West Sunset Boulevard and North Sierra Bonita Avenue. Edwards had just played at a fundraiser for the LGBTQ+ and Paul Community and was back in the car when he was hit by a dark-colored Mercedes-Benz G-wagon.
She died at the scene. The driver stopped, tried to identify himself and render the aid. Police said speed could be a factor in the fatal collision.
In a heartbreaking Instagram post, her husband, Chris Edwards, described her as his soulmate, and the couple said they had just closed escrow in their new home before crashing. They were planning to start a family.

“We’ve lost such a beautiful light, and the world is getting darker,” he wrote. “The amount of life she touched and changed will become the memory I hold forever.”
Chris said she tracked Erica’s phone down the road from the crash and into a vehicle belonging to a LA County Medical Examiner who parked near Wendy’s drive-thru.
