The injured Pitbull is now in unknown condition after being stabbed multiple times in Long Beach over the weekend, police confirmed Thursday.
It happened during the early morning hours on Saturday, August 2nd, between the dog owner and the suspect, who as of Thursday morning, was only identified as an adult male.
Graphic footage obtained by KTLA begins by showing a man armed with a knife walking towards the other two men. As the armed man holds a knife and lifts his hand up, the pitbull charges at him, apparently falling out of the protection of the man or man behind it. This is when the suspect starts stabbing the dog and appears to slap it over and over again. The dog continues to fight back, bark and jump against the suspect until two other men intervene.
The Long Beach Police Department said officers responded to reports of stab wounds in the 300 block of Orange Avenue, which lined up with Ben Franklin’s Classic Middle School.
Upon reaching the scene, a video provided by Stringer Service Traffic News Los Angeles shows officials standing around people hugging bleeding pit bulls suffering from multiple stab wounds.

Police provided medical assistance to dogs on site before community members were taken to local veterinary hospitals for treatment. KTLA is contacting Long Beach Animal Care Services, asking about the dog’s current condition.
A preliminary investigation of LBPD showed that the dog owner was fighting the suspect verbally. The suspect escalated when he began stabbing the pit bull. Authorities did not immediately say whether the Pitbull was trying to protect the owner at the time.
The suspect fled before law enforcement reached the scene and as of Thursday morning no arrests had been reported in connection with the incident.
The investigation is ongoing and the LBPD is encouraging anyone with information about the incident to contact a non-emergency dispatch at 562-435-6711.
