The suspect was shot dead by lawmakers at a busy intersection near a West Hollywood shopping mall, prompting the closure of a large street on Saturday night.
Before 6pm, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a domestic violence incident in the 7100 block of Santa Monica Boulevard.
Details remain limited, but the woman on the scene told KTLA’s Rachel Menitov that her ex-boyfriend allegedly attacked her, before taking her to a nearby alley. That’s when a bystander called the police.

Authorities arrived at the scene and found the suspect near Santa Monica Boulevard and Lovelair Avenue while talking to the victim. They approach the man and attempted to restrain him, but he resisted and a physical altercation was said to have continued.
During the conflict, the suspect was shot by deputies. He was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound to his torso and remained stable. LASD did not provide details on the situation leading up to the shooting.
The road in the near 7,100 block of Santa Monica Boulevard, home to West Hollywood Gateway Mall, was closed to traffic and pedestrians for more than six hours as it surrounded the area for investigation.
“I just heard a lot of helicopters and sirens, so I decided to come out and see what was going on,” said Ryan Edler, a West Hollywood resident. “This is a huge avenue for walking and public transport. It’s dramatically affected.”
None of the people were injured in the shooting. LASD officials are urging people to avoid the area as roads remain closed late Saturday night.
“When a deputy shoots occur involving Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies, multiple independent investigations will soon begin on the scene when a person is shot,” Lasd said in a statement.
No further details have been made public as the case is under investigation.
