The suspect was arrested in the fatal shooting of a man in Riverside County.
The suspect was identified as 28-year-old Cecilio Nando Gonzalez of Coachella, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office.
On July 7, lawmakers responded to a deadly weapon attack at a home in the 84,000 block of Avenue 51, Coachella, just after 10am.
Deputies arrived to find the victim, Gustavo Melendrez-Hernandez, 29, at Coachella, suffering from a gunshot wound.
Cecilio Nando-Gonzalez, 28, of Coachella, can be seen in booking photos from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office.
Paramedics took him to a local hospital, where he died of injuries three days later.
Detectives later identified Nando Gonzalez as the leading suspect in the fatal shooting. He was detained for attempted murder and booked at Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility.
Details including the motives for the fatal shooting and how the suspect and victims were known to each other were not released.
