The Senate confirmed that Oregon Rep. Lori Chavez Deremar will lead the Department of Labor and marks the completion of President Donald Trump’s Cabinet Secretary.
Chavez Deremar was confirmed by the Senate with bipartisan support, 67-32 votes on Monday evening. three Republicans, Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky. , Rand Paul, R-Ky. , and Ted Budd, RN.C. voted against the confirmation of Chavez Deremar.
“The American people deserve change after four years of economic heartache under the “most parent-union government in American history.” Unfortunately, Lori Chavez Deremar’s record-breaking policies suggest more that they are pushing policies that drive hard-working Americans to union membership,” McConnell said in a statement.
Paul has consistently opposed Chavez Deremar’s nomination against Chavez Deremar’s past support, opposes allegations that he would protect his right to organise and advance his nomination to the final Senate vote.
Following the crucial victory, Trump was preparing to complete the cabinet in record time
President Donald Trump’s former president Lori Chavez Deremar, a U.S. Labor Secretary’s candidate, is paying attention during a confirmation hearing of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday, February 19, 2025.
But R-La, chairman of the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (Help); Senator Bill Cassidy said Chavez Deremar was “working on this mission and ready to work with the Assistance Committee to ensure a better future for all workers.”
“The Biden administration is using that authority as a weapon against workers, threatening its ability to earn a living and provide it to families. Once President Trump takes office, he has the opportunity to establish a pro-based agenda for the Department of Labor that puts workers first.”
Chavez Deremar has received support from Democrat senators through her confirmation process, which she said she believes Trump’s candidate is “qualified to serve as the next Secretary of Labor.”
“The Department of Labor plays an integral role in supporting both workers and small businesses, and after hearing important support from members, including members of the New Hampshire labor union, I will support Chavez Deremar in the nomination of Secretary of Labor.”
