Terry Cole, the Drug Enforcement Bureau administrator, is the new federal appointee to help run the Washington, DC Metropolitan Police Department, vowed to have local officers “get their job again” in control of the crime.

Cole was taken away by Attorney General Pam Bondy after the Trump administration announced major interventions on Monday to crack down on crime in the country’s capital. The move came after several famous violent crimes, including the murder of a Congressional intern.

“You can’t close your eyes,” Cole told Fox News Channel’s “Story” on Tuesday. “We’re incredible cooperation, incredible Intel sharing, and most encouraging. The police are looking forward to working again.”

According to an order released by Bondi on Friday, Cole’s role is defined as a nominee during the emergency declared by the President with the aim of directing mayors of the District of Columbia to provide such services. [MPD] Just as the Attorney General considers it necessary and appropriate. ”

“Instead of canceling just one bad MPD order, the new order from General Bondy is stronger because this alternative order requires the MPD to fully cooperate with federal immigration authorities,” a DOJ spokesperson told Fox News Digital on Saturday.

“We are not retreating as President Trump continues to control the law to determine what is necessary and appropriate,” the spokesman added.

Washington, DC Police Chief Pamela Smith will remain technically in her position, but Cole will play a key role in ensuring that city leaders, such as Smith and Mayor Muriel Bowser, follow federal government requests, particularly in working with immigration authorities.

Dozens of arrests have already been made as the takeover was illegal immigrants as ice and other federal agencies patrolled the streets of the capital.

“Attorney General Bondy has just issued a new directive to the MPD to request the MPD to provide the services required by DEA administrator Terry Cole, for the MPD to fully and fully comply with federal immigration laws and authorities.

According to his profile on the DEA website, Cole has an extensive background in law enforcement, including working for more than 20 years before retiring from the federal government in 2020. He then was the secretary of Virginia Public Safety and Homeland Security from 2023 to 2025.

“I’m happy to see it happen under Terry Cole’s leadership,” Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin spoke earlier this week on “Morning and Morning with Maria” on the Fox Business Network earlier this week, discussing how similar law enforcement models will be adopted in partnerships with Commonwealth and federal leaders.

DEA Head says it’s getting calls from “national” from the Fed who wants to help with DC

Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin and his wife Suzanne Youngkin will arrive on July 17, 2024 at the Fiso Services Forum in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on the third day of the 2024 Republican National Convention.

“Terry Cole, who is currently the director and administrator of the DEA and leads this effort on behalf of the administration, is the best person in the country to do this. I have great confidence in him and I want to thank President Trump for taking this big step,” the Republican governor added.

Youngkin said in February that Cole played a major role in tackling federal illegal drugs.

“His leadership in the Operations Free Initiative in Virginia has seized tens of thousands of pounds of illegal drugs, including more than 70 million deadly doses of fentanyl, making it the standard for federal, state and local law enforcement collaboration,” Youngkin said. “He’ll put American safety and safety as the head of the DEA first. Being an American and becoming a drug dealer is a bad day.”
