LAPD was searching for two burglars on Sunday, but the two robbers allegedly broke into a Woodland Hills home and stole items worth thousands of dollars.
A homeowner who doesn’t want to be identified says the robber suspect broke into through a sliding glass door while he was out around 7pm.
The area’s neighbor, Larry Andredo, says he witnessed two men leaving the home carrying the homeowner’s safe. The neighbors then called on homeowners to warn about suspicious activities.
Part of the robbery was filmed on video by the good Samaritan in his Tesla car. The driver chased the dark-colored Pratless Mercedes before the robber crashed another vehicle about half a mile from the house.
“He made a U-turn and apparently tried to chase after Tesla, but he actually hit a white Prius,” Andredo said.
According to LAPD, the driver and passengers abandoned the car after they were unable to drive and ran away.
Investigators evaluated the car and trunk to see if they could recover stolen items.
The homeowner says his money is hoping to be collected from the car, and it contains about $50,000 worth of items and cash.
Officials are also looking into whether Mercedes was involved in other recent robberies in the area.
No arrests were made as police continue to investigate the robbery.
