Owners of Tesla in California and beyond have been targeted by an unusual form of resistance against the second Trump administration and Telsa owner Elon Musk.

Why do you hate Tesla all of a sudden?
It’s a strange twist for Tesla. Tesla was considered a key company to develop electric vehicles and until recently to reduce carbon emissions and reverse climate change. The Teslas is extremely popular in Green California, with the Model 3 and Model Y being the bestselling cars in recent years.
But Musk’s right-right turn and his central role in the Trump administration seem to have muddied the brand, especially among some liberal activists who targeted it. It didn’t help that Musk became a major critic of California and its liberal policies and moved much of his business to Texas.
“His vehicle has a strong brand relationship with CEO Elon Musk and his personal brand,” said Billuru Akdeniz Talay, professor of marketing at the University of New Hampshire.

What kind of vandalism is happening?
Recently, authorities arrested a woman in Loveland, Colorado, and arrested a Tesla dealer on suspicion of destroying it with spray paint and Molotov cocktails.
The Tesla Chargers were destroyed in Swasticus on Wednesday in Myers, California, near Lake Tahoe. The Eldorado County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the incident was under investigation but did not offer any motives.
How does Tesla respond?
Tesla fought against the destroyers by deploying bank-style ink packs that explode on the assailants, replacing the supercharger cable with thicker material.
Teslas also has a Sentry Mode option. This option records the occurrence of the car with an external camera.
Tesla dealers in Loveland, Colorado, the suspect vandalism site and Tesla Dealers at Owings Mills, the site of the protests earlier this month, were forwarded to Tesla’s North American headquarters that did not respond to an email in comment.
Some Tesla owners have distanced themselves from their masks, replacing their Tesla logos with Honda, Audi and Mazda logos and rebranding their cars instead. Some have relied on a bumper sticker that read, “I bought this before I knew Elon was crazy.”
On Sunday, protesters won a picket outside Tesla dealerships, urging people to hold placards and boycott the brand.
Protester Karen Lovewin told the BBC that he finally traded the bumper sticker “we bought this car before we knew it.”

Where does this leave Tesla?
Musk is the wealthiest man in the world, and his fortune is partially built by Tesla’s wild success.
However, sales of electric vehicles slowed down across the industry, which hit Tesla’s revenues. Tesla’s stock price has fallen nearly 45% since the election.
In an interview with Fox Business, Musk admitted that he runs his business “very difficult,” but said he had hoped to stay at Doge for another year.
However, he hints that he has not gone anywhere and hasn’t changed direction.
He retweeted the meme this month with the phrase “worthy” which showed a heavily bandaged hospitalized patient in response to another tweet that pointed out that he lost $103 billion this month.
In 2023, Musk said there were no plans to resign and no successor was established.

But Tesla still has a fan base, right?
Despite all this, Tesla still has plenty of fans.
President Trump recently illegally branded the protest against Tesla, adding, “I will buy a brand new Tesla tomorrow morning as a show of confidence and support for the true great American Elon Musk.”
Fans say they’ll buy Teslas or Cybertook to support masks for a variety of reasons, including “Defeating the Left/Marxist/Communist mob.”
Cybertruck’s Ignoll’s difficult design debuted the Irvine Police Department last fall by purchasing a $150,000 Cybertruck, completing a $20,000 upgrade in the form of lightbars, sirens, custom graphics and other equipment.
Irvine Police Department spokesperson Kyle Allelp believes the department is the first law enforcement agency to purchase a cyber truck. Las Vegas recently announced the addition of cybertrucks to its fleet.
There was initial outrage by online commenters who called Irvine’s purchase a “waste of money.”
However, the vehicle was a “smash hit” for the department, Oldoerp said.
This track is used to support programs aimed at young people or to support substance abuse resistance education at the Dare station.
Last year, he dared to focus on drugs, but this repetition also talks about bullying, making good decisions and building self-esteem.
He said the DARE program has distributed 10,000 cybertruck stickers, with more orders.
“It’s the 10,000 children our dare officers speak and share the words,” Old Elp said.
Oldoerp said he could not imagine the same reaction if officers arrived at a community event in a regular police car.
“It’s created a great connection with the community, and that’s exactly what we’re trying to do,” Oldoerp said. “The kids run up and dare to attack the officers. Everyone wants a photo with the truck.”

Has a car ever brought this level of political hatred before? Do you remember Hammer?
The plight of Tesla and Cybertruck is nothing new.
There were attacks on Hammer, such as in 2003 when environmental activists bombed dealers in West Covina Hammer.
Approximately 125 vehicles were damaged or destroyed, and one defendant called the SUV dealer “evil.” The vehicle was spray-painted with several phrases, including “gloss contaminator.”
People routinely broke the Hammers, as in 2007, near Washington, DC.
As vehicles became more popular, so did the detractors we routinely asked.
However, the reason behind the vandalism was not about personality, but about lifestyle.
“When Hammer was introduced, it was loved for its heavy-duty military-style vehicle design,” Talay said. “But it has also been criticized as environmentally unfriendly to the customer base.”
Hammer was famous for its low fuel efficiency and earning about 10 miles per gallon.
Tesla and Cybertruck also found their critics. There has been recent research that blew up the former due to crashes and death that linked the former to autonomous driving mode, and stated that the latter is more “explosive” than the infamous Ford Pinto.
But as it is now, neither vehicle is consumed by its defects.
That wasn’t the case with Hammer. Lack of fuel efficiency prevented the sale of vehicles, and in 2010 GM cancelled the Hummer.
Gusler, known for going everywhere, is gone.
But Hammer had one final twist. General Motors rocked the beast from hibernation in 2022 from a new form (all electric sports utility trucks).
