The 19-year-old suspect was arrested after two people were shot and killed in Riverside County.
On March 22, deputies responded to a deadly weapon attack in the 600 block of West Lake Shore Drive in Lake Elsinore at about 12:30am.
Deputies arrived found someone injured on the ground with several gunshot wounds. The suspect had fled the scene.
Shortly afterwards, authorities were notified that the second person had also arrived at a nearby hospital with a gunshot wound. The two shootings were determined to be connected.
Investigators later identified Keniero Centeno Guzman, 19, of Lake Elsinore, as the suspect. On March 27, he was provided a search warrant at his home where he was detained for attempted murder and recovering a stolen firearm.
The second woman at home, Berika Guzman, 41, was also arrested on suspicion of tampering, child danger, and intentional/obstruction by a peace officer.
Keniero Centeno Guzman, 19, of Lake Elsinore, can be seen in booking photos from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office.
They were both transported and booked at the COIS Bird Detention Centre. Authorities said they are also planning to seek gang-related strengthening on the claims.
Details of the motives behind the shooting, or how the suspect and victim were known to each other, were not released.
“The Elsinore Lake Station and the Regional 4 Gang Task Force have a zero tolerance attitude on all gang-related crimes. They will be investigated and charged to the fullest extent of the law,” the Sheriff’s Department said.
Anyone with information about the case will be asked to call the Deputy Appeal at Lake Elsinore Sheriff Station at 951–245–3300.
