Newou can listen to Fox News articles!

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, DN.Y., pulled back the curtains of the “productive” meeting of New York City candidate Zohran Mamdani on Wednesday with Democrats in Washington, D.C.

When asked by Fox News’ Chad Pargram how Mamdani’s message resonated with Democrats on “The Breakfast for Communication and Organizing Skillsharing,” Ocasio-Cortez said the Democratic candidate shared critical insights on how to “level up” all the games from a technique perspective.

The progressive superstar urged the outstanding Mamdani skeptic to “know him” before “appreciating from what you can see on television.” She praised her caucus for giving him a fair chance “to show up in good faith” and for showing “the willingness to listen and appreciate for himself.”

However, when reporters asked if minority leader Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (DN.Y.) if he officially supported Mamdani, Ocasio-Cortez said he would not talk about her support, or her lack of support.

Jeffries and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer confirmed plans to meet with New York City’s Mamdani later this week, but New York’s top Democrat leaders have yet to support self-explained democratic socialist candidates.

Mamdani’s main victory reveals the Democratic disparity when top leaders withhold their support

“I hope Democrats will succeed,” Ocasio-Cortez told reporters. “We want to win the Democrats. As a Democratic candidate in New York City, Zoran Mamdani is overwhelmingly preferred to win the general election, and in doing so, we want the next Democrat mayor to be as successful as possible.”

Ocasio-Cortez, a member of “Squad,” has dominated the headlines since arriving in the political scene in 2018 after retiring the longtime Democratic incumbent. The New Yorker said he shared it with Mamdani. “The way people are portrayed in the media at times doesn’t always match who we are, as individuals.”

“I think when people get to know him as a person, when people get to know us as real people, they’re kind of surprised,” explained Ocasio-Cortez.

And across Capitol Hill on Wednesday afternoon, longtime progressive champion Sen. Bernie Sanders took a friendly photo with Mamdani outside an office building on the hill. Like Ocasio-Cortez, Sanders supported Mamdani ahead of last month’s major democratic victory.

“I had a great meeting with @Zohrankmamdan and was deeply impressed by the grassroots campaign he was running,” Sanders said in X.

Mamdani said, “It is an absolute honor to meet one of my heroes and the champion for workers in our country.” He called Sanders “through Brooklyn,” noting that the Vermont Senator was born and raised.

Rep. Josh Gottimer (DN.J.) has run past reporters into the National Democratic Club. It’s just to know that the breakfast party has moved from place to place.

Rep. Tom Suozzi, Dn.Y., said he would not attend Ocasio-Cortez’s breakfast on Wednesday. Medium Suzzi emerged as the voice of Mamdani’s campaign among the New York Democrats.

Dn.Y. MP Adriano Espaillat approved Mamdani last week after retreating former Governor Andrew Cuomo. Cuomo announced his decision on Monday to remain in the mayoral race as an independent.

Several Democratic leaders were found leaving breakfast on Wednesday morning in Washington’s Navy Yard area after a last-minute location was changed.

While leaving breakfast, a longtime New York Democrat who supported Mamdani was asked by Fox News whether Schumer and Jeffries would ultimately support the mayoral candidate. He replied, “I’ll think so soon.”

D-Mich. Councilman Debbie Dingell will speak to reporters after a breakfast meeting with NYC mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani.

But D-Mich. Rep. Debbie Dingell attended the breakfast party and left Mamdani’s successful use of social media in the campaign trajectory, telling reporters. Dingell also accused her of saying that what she said was rhetoric that Democrats were heading towards socialism.

Rep. Pramila Jayapal, a member of Washington’s Top Progressive House, told reporters as he left the meeting that Mamdani was “stimulating.”

Rep. Ro Khanna of California, another leading progressive lawmaker considered the Democratic presidential candidate for 2028, told reporters at his exit that Mamdani was “very impressive.”

Rep. Nydia Velazquez, a New York Democrat who supported Mamdani, left the meeting and told reporters, “It’s just beautiful to have a really real person, it’s just beautiful to have money that can’t buy it.”

Mamdani appears to have not delved into details about the far agenda he hopes to enact if he is elected mayor of New York City, instead shining the spotlight on effective campaign trail messaging focusing on key issues of affordability.

California Democrat Rep. Les Ribas told reporters when he left the meeting when asked what Mamdani had discussed.

Fox News’ Kelly Ferez, Tyler Olson, Oliva Patel, Dan Scully, Aisha Hasney and Chad Pargram contributed to the report.
