The two jewelry store owners in southeastern Los Angeles County continue to pick up pieces from simultaneous smash and grub robbers earlier this week.
On Friday, the LA County Sheriff’s Office released an update on Artesia’s July 1 robbery. They also released estimates of the total damages that occurred when dozens of masked thieves broke into two businesses with hammers and clovers.
Sheriff’s Department officials estimated the loss to be over $1 million.
The targeted company was identified as Watch Palace and Amber Jeweler, located in the same shopping centre on the block of Pioneer Boulevard in 18500.
Witnesses told KTLA earlier this week that between 20 and 30 masked people entered two businesses at the same time, destroying glass doors, windows and display cases, and stole as many items as they could grab within a minute.
On July 1, 2025, dozens of suspects broke into two Artesia jewelry stores, destroying displays and stole an unfair amount of valuables.
The video shows the confusion unfolding inside one store, with some people indiscriminately rocking hammers and causing great damage to small businesses.
“It’s very traumatic for us and we don’t know how we handle it,” said shopkeeper Freeha in an interview with KTLA.
LASD said the investigation remains ongoing and the detective is “working diligently to identify and arrest suspects.”
