The third and final egg of Jackie and Show, the famous Big Bear Hubed Eagle couple, appeared to have hatched on Thursday.
A live camera overlooking the Eagle Family’s nest showed the youngest Eagle’s head peering into a cracked egg.
Friends of Big Bear Valley, a nonprofit that oversees the Big Bear Bear Bald Eagle Nest camera, reported hatching activity was observed around the third and final eggs of Jackie and Shadow’s 2025 clutch on Thursday morning.
“Today, I found the third pip movement of the egg at 10:21. You can see the chick’s beak moving inside the egg. At 10:53, the PIP site looked a little bigger.”
On March 2nd and 3rd, the first and second Eagles were successfully hatched.
The Eagle hasn’t named it yet, but the public can help with that. At a later date, the nonprofit will welcome the proposal. The organization then draws around 30 proposed names and has local third-year students vote for the top names.
The two Eagle parents spend around 10-14 weeks spending time with their little ones before leaving the nest. For the Eagles to exist for themselves, they must be fully grown and able to catch their prey themselves. While they get an adult hang, their chicks will be able to rely on their parents for guidance.
