Although we’re all calling out Jackie and Shadow fans, you still have the opportunity to name Jackie and Shadow’s remaining two chicks.
Friends of Big Bear Valley, the nonprofit that oversees Big Bear’s Bald Eagle Nest cameras, will accept naming proposals until Friday, March 28th at 11:59pm Pacific Time.
The contest is a nonprofit fundraiser that will raise money and support the live stream of Bald Eagle Cam.
“We’ve always offered live streams of Jackie and Shadow’s Nest cameras for free to the public (and are free from advertising), so we traditionally sought a small donation with suggestions for chick names,” Fobbv said.
Fans can donate $5 for one name entry, $10 for three name entries, or $25 for ten entries. Anything inappropriate will be automatically filtered out.
A randomly selected list of finalist names is selected by the computer after the contest is over. Local third, fourth and fifth grade students will vote in secret votes and select their victory name next week, April 1st.
The chick’s gender is still unknown, so suggestions for neutral names are preferred.
The name will be announced later at some point in early April. The winner will receive a recognition certificate.
“We would like to thank Jackie, Shadow for their beautiful dedication to his family,” wrote Sandy Steers, FOBBV executive director earlier this week. “I’m lucky to choose my favorite name!”
