British Prime Minister Kiel Starmer understands the rationale behind President Donald Trump’s tariffs and announces on Sunday that the West is entering a new economic era.

“The world has changed, globalization is over, and we are now in a new era,” the Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement to the Times on Sunday. “We must demonstrate that our approach, our more active labour government, and more reformist government can provide the answers to people in all parts of this country.”

The statement comes after Trump announced new tariffs in dozens of countries around the world on Wednesday.

The Sunday Times report says priority continues to argue that tariffs are wrong, but the prime minister also acknowledges that he understands the rationale behind Trump’s move and why such policies are increasingly popular with voters.

“Trump has done something we disagree with, but there’s a reason why people are behind him about this,” the Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement.

The priorities are expected to highlight the failure of free trade and massive migration, particularly during the address on Sunday, the report said it claimed it failed to millions of voters.

Musk says he wants “zero tariffs”, a trade freedom zone between us and Europe

Meanwhile, the report said Trump ally Elon Musk appears to have been publicly destroyed with the president in a video interview at an event in Italy on Saturday.

“At the end of the day, I hope that both Europe and the US will ideally, in my view, will move to a zero tariff situation and agree to effectively create a free trade zone between Europe and North America,” he said.

Musk also ultimately sought to be more “freedom” between the two continents. This is an obvious break from Trump’s hardline on immigration.

“That’s what I want, and if they want, the more freedom of those who move between Europe and North America,” Musk said. “If they want to work in Europe or in America, in my opinion, they should be allowed to do so. So that was certainly my advice to the President.”

The White House did not immediately respond to Fox News’ digital requests.
