The Cathedral solidifies the Pomona location in the world of music

It was a date night for Ricardo Rico and his two daughters. One of them bible to Preho’s music when Rico carried his youngest in his arms. The three of them drove out of Montebello to see their favourite artists spotting their first show at a new venue in Pomona.

On March 7th, the cathedral opened its doors to the community for the first time with a free concert. The venue’s first closure set belongs to the city’s native Alejandro Aranda and is also known as the Skaripur Party. The homeland hero conquered the American Hearts with his guitar skills and rose to fame after appearing as runner-up in 17 seasons of “American Idol.”

Aranda’s high-energy performances – full of hard riffs, melodic vocals and electric lighting – helped solidify Pomona’s presence in the music world.

In addition to Haven, Glasshouse and Fox Theatre, the Cathedral is currently within a three-block radius in downtown Pomona’s fourth music venue. Its inclusion anchors the outskirts of LA County as a musical destination with a stage large enough to host the world’s most famous acts.

Rey Adamik, president and CEO of the Cathedral, captured the aesthetics of the Pomona art scene and personified it within the venue’s architecture. Round-colored windows, mid-century chandeliers and giant LED screens bring together to create a space where you can share the religious experience of watching the Inland Empire perform by artists who like them.

“[Pomona’s] Adamik said, “It’s definitely a destination for music and arts.

The cathedral is located within the Galley Union, a newly remodeled building that was previously home to the YMCA in Pomona. Georgia’s revival style building served men, women and children in the community from 1922 to 2012, according to SoCal Landmarks.

“[That building] teeth [one of] American national historic landmark… in America,” Adamic said. No one was there for 13 years. ”

Adamyk’s company Spectra Co. has swayed the skills to restore and preserve historic buildings to revive Garey Building, the home of local businesses, including Pawnshop Skate Co.

Garey’s union continues the legacy of the YMCA, even with its entirely new look. Cathedral manager Gallo Galvan informed the community that he was here to serve them when Aranda cried out “This is your cathedral” just before he took the stage.

“Pomona is really close to me,” Garban said. “Glass House, the music scene is where I feel.”

Garban does not consider the cathedral to be a competitor of other local venues. His goal is to create a synergy between Glasshouse and Fox Theatre. He wants to show other venues where the Cathedral can serve the bands he wants to bring to Pomona.

As the venue reservation manager, Galvan envisions the cathedral as an artist’s incubator. “This is a platform for them,” Garban said. “Build those who love music, those who want to participate, and those brands.”

Garban has opened the door for collaboration with other venues. He previously worked at Fox Theatre and is friends with the owner of Glass House. He hopes the cathedral serves as an alternative for artists who don’t sell enough tickets to fill the fox, or for artists who surpass small venues.

“[The owner of the Glasshouse] Garban said he was pointing towards the main stage of the cathedral. He’s here to help. I’m grateful. ”

According to Garban, the Cathedral will be busy with music shows from Thursday to Sunday. His concern is how they will stay active during downtime.

Probably a movie night at the cathedral. It is probably an open microphone hosted by the Pomona Poet Award winners. The Cathedral’s galvans and crew are open to everything.

“Our staff is pretty creative like that,” Garban said.

Concert participants will wait in line to access the cathedral.

The first show took place on a rainy night on Friday. However, Pomona and surrounding cities have come out to support homemade musicians.

Aranda successfully performed with “American Idol” and put Pomona on the map. Now, the city is doing the same thing in the thriving music scene.
