KCAL-TV Evening News Anchor Chauncy Glover died of “acute poisoning” from methamphetamine and chloroethane.
Glover, 39, was found to not respond at home on November 5th.
The assistant inspector completed the autopsy on November 6th. The cause of death was found Wednesday after conducting the test and study, the statement said.
According to the Centers for Disease Control, chloroethane is a room temperature, colorless gas with a “characteristically sharp odor.” It produces dyes, solvents, and refrigerants, and is used to paralyze the skin before medical procedures such as skin biopsies and piercings and to treat sports injuries.
According to the CDC, when abused or sucked, it can lead to temporary drunkenness, dizziness, or dizziness, leading to accidental death.
A full report from the inspector is expected by the end of March.
A three-time Emmy Award winner, Glover joined the KCAL-TV news team in 2023 from KTRK-TV in Houston. His television also included on-air positions at WDIV-TV in Detroit, WJAX-TV in Jacksonville, and WTVM-TV in Columbus, Georgia.
Friends and family members did not comment on the circumstances surrounding his death at the time. However, a friend and a public relations representative issued a statement.
“Chauncy was not just an extraordinary journalist and community leader. He was like a family,” Jordyn Dean said. “Chauncy had a rare, authentic kindness that appeared in everything he did. He wanted the best for everyone around him. He helped people without asking anything in return.”
During his stay in Houston, Glover founded the Chauncy Glover Project, a mentoring program for teenagers and “skilled gentlemen” in the city.
