The man accused of domestic violence and two Riverside County Sheriff’s deputies was hospitalized after a court brawl on Friday.
Ryan James Chalfant, 31, fought two representatives after a judge took him into custody and custody on $1 million bail, news outlets report.
He faces multiple felony charges, including two counts of physical injuries to a spouse or householder who has been previously convicted over the past seven years, as well as one count of criminal threats and false imprisonment, reporters cited records from the Superior Court.
Chalfant was free on $50,000 bail and was expected to enter the petition on Friday, but instead, Judge Jennifer Gerard ordered him to be arrested and taken into custody in lieu of $1 million bail.
“When deputies tried to detain the man, he resisted arrest,” a spokesman for the RCSD told the outlet. “The lawmakers ultimately detained the suspect.”
Authorities have not detailed the exact injuries that the three people were injured, but everything is expected to recover in full.
The arrest was rescheduled on Tuesday.
