The Southern California woman was arrested Sunday after she found her boyfriend bleeding in the middle of a highway, suffering from numerous stab wounds.
The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office has identified the woman as Lydia Alicia Gonzalez, 40, of Breton.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, the deputy first met the victim on the road on Highway 246 near Valley Station Road was at 1:58am.
“As the adjutant tried to derive subjects from the road, he discovered that the man had several stabs and lacerations in his shoulders, hips, chest, back and hands,” the sheriff’s office explained in a press release.
The victim, whose identity was not immediately provided, told deputies that his girlfriend had stabbed him and that she was still inside a nearby home in the 200 block of Valley Station Road.
Later, when deputies offered assistance to the victim and tried to control his bleeding, Gonzalez stepped outside the nearby house and threw a can of beer at them.
The sheriff’s office said lawmakers quickly detained Gonzalez and secured her despite being “very militant.”
Gonzalez has been booked at Northern Branch Prison for felony charges including attempted murder, deadly weapon assault and domestic violence, and she is in custody on $1,000,000 bail.
Officials said the victim was taken to a community hospital and was in stable condition as of Sunday afternoon.
