The Los Angeles Dodgers announced the construction of two Dodger Dreamfields at Loma Alta Park in Altadena on Friday morning as part of an ongoing wildfire recovery effort.
The Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation, the team’s charity division, said it is partnering with the Los Angeles County Parks and Recreation Department to complete Fields by May in time for the park’s grand reopening.
“We’re looking forward to seeing you in the world,” said Nicole Whiteman, CEO of the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation. “These areas stand as evidence of community resilience and provide safe spaces for young people and their families while continuing to heal from the effects of the Eton fire.”
Fans can support the project on the first day and ring ceremony day with a 50/50 raffle at Dodger Stadium. All revenue will be directed towards the development of these new areas and ongoing relief efforts.
MLB opening day is March 18th. The ring ceremony day will be March 28th, 10 days later.
“We are extremely grateful to have partnered with the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation to guide youth baseball and softball programming to Dodgers Dreamfield through Dodgers Dreamfield as part of our Eton Fire Recovery efforts in Altadena.
“As Loma Alta Park is the first park to reopen in Altadena, access to these upgraded fields creates valuable opportunities for local youth. We are also pleased that the Dodgers Foundation has partnered with us to renovate the ball field, allowing the Central Altadena Little League to play the final game at Altadena and expand recreational opportunities across the community,” said García-González.
The park’s restoration plans were announced on March 5th by Los Angeles County supervisor Kathryn L. Burger.
