First on FOX: The Kansas Attorney General is asking the Department of Justice (DOJ) to investigate the funding sources behind the “environmental law campaign,” which it says has become a form of in recent years.
Kansas Attorney General Chris Kobach argued that the Chinese government is bankrolling US lawsuits designed to weaken the US energy sector, according to a letter obtained by Fox News Digital.
Energy Foundation China, a San Francisco-based nonprofit organization with a strong presence in Beijing, appears to fund several lawsuits, said elected Republican Kobach.

“Not surprising, the EFC appears to support actions that are consistent with China’s strategic interest in strengthening alternative energy production systems that manage critical supply chains for the minerals, batteries, solar panels and other energy technologies needed,” Kobach writes.
Kobach added that the nonprofit has “close ties” with the Chinese Communist Party, and that the DOJ should investigate inappropriate foreign influences on the US economy.

Kobach’s letter follows the state attorney general testifying last month before the Senate Judiciary Committee on the same issue. Sen. R-Texas Sen. Ted Cruz led a hearing called “Enter the Dragon – Left Laws on the Control of China and America.”

“Our energy sector is the engine of America’s prosperity, the life of industrial power, national security and geopolitical leverage,” Cruz said in his opening statement. “If American energy is under attack, American security and American independence will also be attacked.”
