Firefighters rescued a man and a woman trapped in the dangerous currents of San Fun Creek during the heavy rains on Valentine’s Day.
The Orange County Fire Department posted dramatic footage on X Friday morning, showing crews using boats and helicopters to save lives.
The OCFA said a call came in about 1:42am on February 14th, reporting that the pair had been trapped in fast-moving water and attempted to survive by squeezing trees and bushes.
According to the OCFA, crews respond and use multiple resources, including searches from the coast, boats ready to launch, bridges downstream and rapid water rescue personnel specially located for rain events. I’ve started doing it.
“One of the victims, dragged downstream by the rapid flow, jumped into the arms of the helicopter rescuer as he was about to secure,” OCFA said in X. , and the helicopters lifted them up to shore safely. ”
Paramedics on the scene took both victims to hospital for an assessment. Authorities did not immediately say what the pair were in when they were taken to the hospital.
“Be vigilant about safety around the water, especially during storms,” Ofca said.
