Two people have been arrested in connection with the execution-style killing of popular Woodland Hills doctor Hamid Mirshoje, who was shot and killed in the parking lot of his clinic this summer as he left work.
Los Angeles Police Department announced that Ashley Rose Sweeting, 40, and Evan Hardman, 41, were taken into custody Tuesday in connection with the August murder. Sweeting is from Reseda and Hardman is from Texas.
Mirshoje was shot in the back of the head on August 23 as he was walking to his car after work. The shooting came months after a doctor was jumped by three men with baseball bats. The attack left Mirshoje in fear. his life.
Police have not provided details on what exactly the two suspects did. Nor has it been revealed how investigators linked the two men to the killing or what their motives were.
It was not immediately clear whether Mr. Sweeting or Mr. Hardman was accused of shooting Mirshoje. The Los Angeles Police Department announced the arrests on Tuesday, saying it worked with the FBI to locate and arrest the two men.
Sweeting and Hardman have long criminal histories in Los Angeles. Sweeting had more than a dozen criminal charges filed against her before her murder, and Hardman has had three criminal charges filed since 2021.
Sweeting’s case dates back to her high school days in 2002, when she was convicted of petty theft.
Her problems became more severe over time.

Over the next 22 years, she was involved in a series of mostly low-level criminal cases, including three theft, grand larceny, and shoplifting convictions. As the years passed, court records show her behavior became more violent. She was twice convicted of assault, in 2014 and 2016.
She was troubled by her criminal record and took her frustrations online.
In November 2018, she wrote on Facebook: “I want to do a hell of a job.” “Being recognized for my accomplishments. … That’s not me anymore, and I’ve learned the hard way when it comes to the decisions I make. Please judge.”
In 2022, a woman filed for a restraining order against Sweeting after she repeatedly punched him in the head and kicked him in the chest. The woman said Sweeting tried to run her over.
The violence seemed to reach a climax in February 2023, when Sweeting was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. She was accused of stealing a car belonging to a neighbor and former friend and ramming it into the woman, according to court documents.
“After I explicitly told her the night before that I couldn’t use my car, Ashley stole my keys from my purse and took my car away,” the woman wrote in her complaint seeking a restraining order. “I kicked her out of the house that night too. She backed up to me, I fell down and she drove off.”
The woman said she received another message from Sweeting.
“She also threatened my life, saying she didn’t know what was going to happen to me,” she wrote.
Sweeting was arrested that day, but the case was moved to June 14, 2023. She was released on condition that she be transferred to Via Avanta, a recovery center for acute psychiatric treatment, according to court records.
She was to complete a six-month residential treatment program, followed by an additional 12 to 14 months of outpatient treatment.
Although she did not appear at the initial court hearing, she appears to have restarted the diversion process and appeared in court for a diversion hearing as recently as September 12, more than two weeks after Mirshoje’s murder.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office did not respond to a request for comment.
Hardman has two unsolved cases in Los Angeles. In 2023, he was charged with assault with a deadly weapon. This year he was charged with threatening to commit a crime with terroristic intent.
Additionally, in the request for a restraining order, Hardman was accused of threatening someone’s life.
The woman, who has a child with Hardman, wrote in a legal filing that she discovered her daughter was with Hardman after her daughter went missing in 2023. It is not clear whether the girl is Mr. Hardman’s daughter.
The woman reported Hardman to the police, where she received a phone call from him with a disturbing message.
“You’re going to be dead by the end of the day,” Hardman told her, according to the restraining order request.
