The FBI has hidden the scope of what some lawmakers called an anti-Catholic operation during the Biden administration, despite the documents released Tuesday that then-minister Christopher Ray told Congress that it was limited to a single 2023 memo.

Senator R-Iowa, who chairs the Senate Judiciary Committee, has released a document that the FBI, who is engaged in traditional Catholic investigations, said to show. During his tenure, Ray characterized the issue as part of a memo produced by the FBI’s office in Richmond, Virginia.

“I am determined to reach the bottom of Richmond’s memo and reach the light empty against FBI surveillance in the last administration,” Grassley said in a statement. “We look forward to continuing to work with you to restore the FBI to excellence and to prove once again that justice must be managed fairly and equally.

In a letter to FBI director Kash Patel on Tuesday, Grassley expressed his dissatisfaction with the “anti-Catholic” memo under Wray and the treatment of “anti-Catholic” memos under its lack of transparency, while announcing his discoveries. Ray told legislators that the memo is a single product with a single field office.

Despite Ray’s claim that the memo is a single product, the FBI used “radical traditionalist Catholic” which found at least 13 additional FBI documents and five FBI attachments, citing the Southern Poverty Law Centre (SPLC).

The FBI told Fox News Digital that it received Grassley’s letter but refused to comment further.

During his testimony to lawmakers, Ray did not reveal the existence of a second draft product on the same topic.

“It was one field office product. Of course, there were scores and scores for these products, and when we found them, we took action.”

Blackburn says it is the “radical” FBI’s “at risk” “American” practice.

The note became known when the whistleblower revealed it. The memo, entitled “The interest of racially or ethnically motivated violent extremists in radical traditionalist Catholic ideology presents arguably new opportunities for mitigation,” immediately elicited criticism from Republicans who demanded an immediate answer from their agencies.

According to Grassley, the second FBI memo, drafted by the FBI Richmond Field Office for distribution across the FBI Richmond Bureau, repeated an unfounded link between traditional Catholicism and violent extremism.

A new document released by Grassley shows that Richmond’s memo has been distributed to more than 1,000 FBI employees nationwide. One email exchange involves the FBI’s field office in Buffalo, New York, expressing concern about the hate groups identified by the SPLC mentioned in Richmond’s memo and in the area of responsibility.

Grassley said the FBI could rely on “deeply biased sources” used in the memo.

“These letters focused on preparing memos, their spread, the use of biased sources such as the radical Southern Poverty Law Center, and later misleading expressions by the FBI into Congress, including those of former superintendent Ray,” Grassley wrote.

Fox News Digital has contacted SPLC.
