The family of a woman detained by a federal agent is worried about her after explaining the harsh conditions inside the federal detention facility.
Guadalupe Gutierrez, 41, is being held at the Adelanto Ice Processing Center, her family told KTLA’s Kimberly Chen.
Guadalupe Gutierrez is shown in undated photos provided by her family.
“She sent us her last text message and let us know, ‘They’ve already got me, take care’,” said her daughter Zulma Zapetta.
“The last call we got from her was distraught to hear how devastated and distraught,” added her daughter Gwyneth Zapetta. “She says she’s not being fed, she’s sleeping on a concrete floor, and she and a few people have to hold her to keep her warm.”
Zulma Zapeta added that the drugs are also being withheld.
Gutierrez came from Guatemala and has been in the United States for over 20 years.
She has sought a path to citizenship in the past, her daughter says, but she couldn’t do so without a criminal history.
She works as a tailor at Peach Love in Vernon and was taken into custody on Friday. Her family said it took several days to figure out where she was taken and come into contact with her.
They are currently working to get her legal representative.
The Department of Homeland Security did not reply to KTLA’s request for comment.
