First on FOX: The Department of Health and Human Services has announced it is closing a nationwide program offering free COVID-19 testing to community organizations, citing that it caused taxpayer funds to bleed despite the end of the pandemic.

“Covid-19 behaves like a seasonal flu, rising and falling year-round, and testing widely available at retail stores across the country, and the ongoing federal distribution is a huge waste of taxpayer dollars,” HHS told Fox News Digital on Tuesday. “The Covid-19 pandemic is over, and HHS is prioritizing funding projects that will address the chronic disease outbreak and once again bring America healthy.”

The government has spent more than $1 billion on the program since it was founded under the Biden administration in 2021, Fox News Digital learned.

The programme has deployed COVID-19 testing to community partners nationwide, providing patients with free testing. HHS said Covid-19 testing is now mimicking seasonal flu cases and mimicking retailers across the country packing Covid tests on shelves.

Doctors warn of “three contact” of chronic illnesses that are plaguing Americans after Maha’s report

HHS announced it has finished free Covid-19 testing with community organizations as it focuses on ending the country’s chronic disease problem.

According to HHS, Americans who order tests through the community partnership by 5pm on May 30th will still receive their orders.

HHS is in the midst of purchasing one million new tests that will distinguish between the Covid-19 virus and the flu. This unfolds when there is a shortage or emergency in Covid testing.

According to the HHS, state or local health departments, as well as community organizations with test stockpiles and various local health centers, may offer free testing to Americans as program shutters.

The Covid-19 pandemic that tore the nation in 2020 officially ended a few years ago. Then-President Joe Biden declared the pandemic “over” in 2022, and the World Health Organization decided to have an officially ended pandemic by 2023.

The announcement comes as the Trump administration’s top health department is refocusing the directions to address the country’s spiral chronic health issues that arise in the form of health issues such as ramp-prolonged obesity, autism diagnosis spikes and teenage depression.

President Donald Trump released a predicted report on May 22, which assesses chronic diseases that have attracted American youth, chaired by HHS chief Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

The report’s findings include teen depression, which almost doubled between 2009 and 2019, with 31 children over the age of 5 considered obese and diagnosed with autism by the age of 8, and a 40% increase in childhood cancer since 1975.

“Over 40% of approximately 73 million children (ages 0-17) in the United States have at least one chronic health condition, including asthma, allergies, obesity, autoimmune diseases, or behavioral disorders,” the report states. “Estimates vary depending on the conditions included, but all studies have shown an astonishing increase over time.”

Chronic diseases have a calm impact on national security, committee members said in a call with the media on Thursday morning. Approximately 75% of American youth ages 17-24 are not eligible to serve in the military due to obesity, asthma, allergies, autoimmune diseases or behavioral disorders, they said.

“We now have the obese, depressed, disability, medicinal population in the history of the world and cannot continue on the same path,” Food and Drug Commissioner Marty McCurry said in a call with the media. “So this is a great day. I hope this marks an epic pivot from a system that is completely recoiled into a system that is now becoming aggressive.”

The MAHA report is followed by the federal government’s policy recommendations report later this summer.
