The national headquarters of the American Council of Israel (IAC) in Woodland Hills targeted an incident of anti-Semitic vandalism over the weekend, officials said.
The organization said messages of hatred, including “F-Jews, BDS,” including “F-Jews, BDS,” were spray painted on the sidewalk, building entrances, and barriers nearby to the community center and the IAC’s Los Angeles-area offices.
The vandalism includes the yellow sw and the letters “ss” and is depicted directly on the sidewalk in front of the Shepherds’ Community Center on Winnetka Avenue, referring to Nazi Schutzstaffel. The sw was also drawn on the cardboard snowman at the entrance to the building, but more hateful graffiti was found along the barriers near the entrance to the expressway 101 and elsewhere in the area.
The Shepherds Community Center serves as a hub for local Israeli-American and American Jewish communities that host both the IAC office and community programming.
The IAC is working with the Topanga Community Police Department at the Los Angeles Police Department to cooperate in the investigation. Authorities said security guards filmed images of the suspect, but police are reviewing it as part of their efforts.
“We are pleased to announce that Elan S. Carr, CEO of the American Council of Israel and CEO of the former US Special Envoy for Overseeing and Fighting Anti-Semitism,” said: “Around the world and across our nation, we have seen an astounding historical rise in anti-Semitism. We fight it and work tirelessly to ensure that history doesn’t repeat itself. This incident does not threaten or stop us.
