Top aide to New York Governor Kathy Hochul reportedly took leave over allegations of sexual harassment, and earlier complaints filed against him led to an investigation.
According to Politico, Hochul spokesman Avi Small is reportedly the subject of complaints allegedly accusing junior staff of the junior staff. The outlet cited five people who know firsthand about the probes given anonymity due to the sensitive nature of the problem. According to Politico, the governor’s human resources department and external law firms conducted the investigation.

People familiar with the issue that spoke to Politico said Small has a history of screaming at young staff and fearing that several employees will work with him. Politico reported that four of the five people who spoke to the outlet said they had witnessed small accused staff of mistakes in the press release or whether the engagement the governor spoke about didn’t go as planned.
An investigation into the treatment of Small’s junior staff did not result in personnel violations, Politico reported, citing another person who was familiar with the results. The source reportedly told Politico that Hochul had accidentally created a system that quickly caused serious probes that could incorrectly damage the subject’s reputation.
Law firms Calcagni & Kanefsky reportedly conducted interviews with Hochul staff about Small’s actions. According to Politico, who cited the source, staff were worried when they learned that a smaller extension of the Associate Secretary’s responsibility would work more closely with Underling.

Politico reported that several staff members met with HR after the 2024 survey was completed and asked about the lack of information regarding the results of the survey. Staff were reportedly encouraged not to discuss the small-scale allegations. Additionally, multiple sources reportedly told Politico that he had information given to HR about small cornering and questions in the supply closet.
According to the report, Small was recently on leave over allegations that he inappropriately touched staff during an office retreat in Albany on June 16th. According to multiple outlets, the governor’s office said they alleged that there were few small lawsuits shortly after the complaints were filed.

When Hochul took over to former Governor Andrew Cuomo after being banished amid allegations of sexual harassment in 2021, she vowed that “I will not describe my administration as a ‘toxic work environment’.” Cuomo denied any fraud.
In October 2021, Hochul announced a new initiative aimed at tackling workplace bullying and discrimination, according to a press release from Calcagni & Kanefsky.
Hochul’s office did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Fox News Digital, filed on July 4th. FoxNewsDigital was also unable to contact Small.
