Exclusive: Rep. Carlos Guimenez, a senator who fled Castro’s communist regime as a youth, proposed a resolution on Friday to launch Rep. Delia Ramirez, a “squad” member of the Homeland Security Committee, for violating her oath.
The resolution cites Ramirez’s comments in Spanish at an event in Mexico City earlier this week.
“I was born in Cuba and was expelled from my hometown shortly after the communist acquisition,” R-Fla’s Gimenez told Fox News Digital on Friday.
“I borrow everything from a country with no restrictions in this exceptional country that paved the way for Cuban refugees like me, firefighters, fire chiefs, mayors, county commissioners, county commissioners, county mayors and members of council.”
The Cuban-born person in charge “has been lifted up” to see the nation liberated after 64 years of emotional return.

“Only in America,” said Gimenez, the only Cuban-born member of Congress.
Although immigrants themselves, Gimenez said that when fellow lawmakers “openly declare their allegiance to foreign countries” over the United States, they lose their right to a certain federal government position.
“Not only is it unacceptable, it also disqualifies our services on the committees that are tasked with securing our hometown,” he said.
Gimenez also serves on the House of Representatives’ Homeland Security Committee and chairs the Maritime and Transportation Subcommittee.

Blowback continued online throughout the week, with actor James Woods saying, “Well, it’s okay, Hasta la Vista.”
Conservative commentator Matt Walsh added that Ramirez should be arrested.
Ramirez’s office directed Fox News Digital to a statement about blowback received by Chicagoans after her comments south of the border.
The statement said the presence of “a Republican commentator” and the Department of Homeland Security’s social media has mistakenly attacked her to “show pride in her multicultural, multi-ethnic heritage.”

Ramirez said she is a US citizen at birth and that the attacks over the past few days were “a weak attempt to silence my opposition and negate my patriotic criticism of government naturalists, white supremacists and authoritarians.”
Ramirez added that many of her colleagues, or other similar white colleagues, who celebrate Irish ancestors, “no one asks questions.”
“I am an immigrant daughter and an American daughter. I am both a chapel and an American. I am from both Guatemala and Chicago, Illinois.”
Ramirez later offered a formal response to Fox News Digital and said he saw Guimenes’ efforts come.
“It’s not normal, but it’s predictable. I’m the most progressive member of the Homeland Security Committee’s Congress,” Ramirez said.
“I spoke out and called for Noem’s resignation in many ways that violate our civil rights and undermine the constitution. The Trump administration and Republicans in Congress are attacking me because they hate what I stand for: I represent diversity, fight for equality, demand inclusion.”
“They misunderstand what I said and use the opportunity to weaponize it to attack me. I will continue to use my voice, heritage and my experience to protect America, the constitution and our rights,” Chicago lawmakers concluded.
