In January, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass appointed LA Police Commissioner Steve Soborov to “kick off” the “city’s massive reconstruction and recovery efforts” following the devastating Palisade fire. He signed a 90-day contract and agreed to work for free.
These 90 days are making money, but Soborov says he has not been asked to do anything in the last 45 years.
In a poignant interview with the Los Angeles Times released Friday morning, Soborov said his position gradually declined dramatically over the 90 days.
“They haven’t asked me to do anything, nothing, nothing, nothing for a month and a half,” Soborov told The Times Tuesday.

He said two weeks after his tenure he was banished from decision making. He learned from reporters the base decision to resume Pacific Palisades in February and asked him about the move.
At the event on Thursday, Bass said Soboroff had “lay a great foundation” in his time as a recovery Czar.
“I was not invited to the press conference either,” Soborov told The Times. “People say, ‘Well, why don’t you feel offended?’ I was so busy that I had to do it all.
He told the Times he was open to extending his contract.
A Bass’ Office spokesman told Times that Soboroff “sent a confused message to residents, but I am grateful for his service and contribution.”
