A recent profile piece about Alex Soros, heir to the progressive funding network of vast liberal mega donor George Soros, suggested that the young Soros has hurt his family brand in recent years with his public profile.
The article, posted this week by New York magazine, takes place at the luxury penthouse of Alex Soros in Manhattan, and characterizes the house as an example of his indifference to public opinion.
“The setting itself is evidence of a particular indifference to public opinion on Alex’s part – or perhaps a lack of awareness,” the story says.

“This fall, he fought a fundraiser in his apartment for vice presidential candidate Tim Waltz, and then caused a PR headache by posting photos from social media events.
“It was thought not to be strained by the president’s ticket to highlight the regularity that the son of a 94-year-old hedge fund billionaire accused of manipulating the Democrats had publicly promoted his centrality to election efforts from the New York City Penthouse.”

Soros portrayed a strong criticism of social media over a photo with Waltz in the penthouse next to a vice presidential candidate labelled as someone who resonates with rural and working-class voters.
“This guy understands the struggles of the middle class and says he’s a small town from the Midwestern Man hanging out in a floating house in the sky of the world’s biggest billionaire Nepo,” digital strategist Greg Price wrote in X at the time.
“Posts like this don’t do anything to help Kamala Harris and Tim Waltz win. If there is, it hurts them,” journalist Jerry Dunleavy posted to X at the time. “So why does Soros post something like this? To publicly announce his power and influence in the next presidential administration.”

The New York magazine wrote that Alex Soros’ love for bringing together powerful figures makes the foundation’s people embarrassed.
“It also highlights his influence. OSF is part of the second largest charity foundation in the United States, and only tracks the Gates Foundation. It gives around $1.5 billion a year, spending the US budget on not only liberal causes but also the big dark money non-profit that lies alongside Democrats, including Democrats’ future, including the American votes.

Fox News Digital has documented Soros’ online presence. This includes all the photos he has taken with Democratic politicians in recent years, and his Rorodex includes the most powerful politician in the Democratic Party. During the Biden administration, Soros visited the White House more than 22 times and met both Biden and Harris.
His social media profile has seen dozens of photos of him and the Senate Democrats since 2018 and the Senate Democrats. Alex had at least nine meetings with Schumer, whom he called his “good friend.”
Soros has visited at least eight times with Pelosi. Pelosi calls him “the biggest speaker in the house in American history.”

Soros has donated millions to Democrats over the past few years, although far less than his father. In 2020, he donated more than $700,000 to the Biden Victory Fund, becoming one of its top donors. In the 2024 cycle, he donated $6,600 directly to Biden’s campaign, federal filings show.
Since the 2018 election, he has poured over $5 million into the federal government’s political funding. Records show that his biggest contribution was $2 million to the Senate majority PAC placed on Schumer during this period.

He also donated hundreds of thousands of cash to Nancy Pelosi’s Victory Fund, the Democratic National Committee and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. He gave tens of thousands more to the state’s Democrats and individual campaigns, many of which were their biggest contributions.
The article states that Soros Network has spent hundreds of millions trying to push forward progressive causes by selecting Democrats in the final election cycle, and that Soros is “probably the biggest liberal donor of the latest election cycle,” but that it is “it’s hard to know for sure because of dark money spending that can’t be tracked.”
