The main Democrat wants to put tampons in the boys’ bathroom

Maine Democrats are pushing for a bill that requires all public schools to provide tampons for boys’ toilets starting at middle school.

The Ld 155 was introduced by Rep. Kristen Cloutier of D-Lewiston, and is about to “need” all public schools in the state that will allow all public schools from grades 6 to 12 to use tampons and sanitary pads available in “all student bathrooms.”

The bill is driven amid ongoing debate over whether trans athletes should be allowed to compete in women’s sports teams, particularly in high schools.

“This is really clearly a pattern of revealing where Legislative Democrats’ priorities lie,” said Rep. Rachel Henderson, R-Rumford. Henderson likened the transition to the ongoing budget fight in Congress. It won priorities by democrats seizing Republican authorities and passing the bill without a two-thirds majority. According to Henderson, the move is slowing down the critical funds needed for the state’s Medicaid program.

“This shows how you don’t get in touch with Maine’s legislative Democrats when you’re paying for your boys bathroom tampon priorities rather than ensuring a balanced budget,” she said.

Meanwhile, Aide Katrina Smith, R-Palermo’s minority leader, said that state legislative Democrats believe that, at the expense of taxpayers, they manage both the room and the governor’s office, “they can push whatever they want.”

“Maine is ground zero for these types of policies,” Smith told Fox News Digital. “They think that because they have a majority in every body, they push through whatever they want, and what they want usually costs taxpayers money too.

Earlier this year, state legislators voted to condemn GOP Rep. Laurel Libby, an outspoken advocate for state leaders who banned President Donald Trump’s presidential athletics from banning women’s athletics. The condemnation vote followed Libby’s opposition to the state’s leader’s decision that Maine’s human rights law, which requires athletic eligibility to be based on gender identity, takes precedence over the president’s executive order banning the practice.

Maine’s Democratic government, Janet Mills, has supported a move to resist Trump’s executive orders on trans sports, telling the White House president last month, “Let’s meet in court.”

Fox News Digital reached out to Cloutier to comment on her bill, which requires the school to provide tampons in boys’ bathrooms but did not receive a response in time for publication.
