Police are looking for a hit-and-run driver who killed a man in South Los Angeles.
The victim was identified as 40-year-old Jose Martinez by the Los Angeles Police Department.
On January 7th, Martinez was crossing the street at about 7:21pm on a marked crosswalk near 53rd Avenue and Figureroa Street.
That’s when a Silver Porsche Cayenne driver driving north along Via Figueroa hit Martinez. The suspect continued to speed up and did not stop to check for injured pedestrians.
Martinez was declared dead at the scene by paramedics.
Police provided photos of the suspect’s SUV, but license plates were not available.

“The driver will remember that if he is involved in a collision, he will be forced to immediately stop and notify emergency services and remain on the scene to identify himself,” LAPD said.
A reward of up to $50,000 is available to anyone who provides information that leads to suspect identification, anxiety and convictions.
