The man reportedly was taken into custody while flying to Los Angeles on Monday morning, attacking other passengers.
The unidentified man was on Delta Line 501 from Atlanta to L.A., but reportedly attacked other passengers, said Transportation Security Agency spokesman Rory Dunkers.
At least one passenger was also reportedly bitten during the incident, according to ABC 7 news.
The Los Angeles Fire Station and Los Angeles World Airport Police responded to the plane shortly after landing at about 11:45am.
Airport police interviewed several witnesses, Dunker said.
In a statement, a Delta spokesman said the airline is working with law enforcement in the investigation.
“Delta has zero tolerance for unruly behaviour and is working with law enforcement to investigate,” the spokesman said.
Los Angeles World Airport Police did not immediately respond to requests for information regarding the incident.
“They eventually took destructive passengers to local hospitals for medical evaluations,” Dunkers said.
The agency is investigating more than 2,100 incidents, including passengers who are unruly on the flight, according to the Federal Aviation Administration. So far, 311 incidents have been reported to the FAA.
