The man arrested on suspicion of murdering “American Idol” music director Robin Kay and her husband Thomas DeLuca inside the couple’s home in Encino, was jailed last year on suspicion of threat, weapons and battery claims, according to court records.
In December, the judge dismissed the case against 22-year-old Raymond Boudarian after the mental health assessment was completed, and court records showed that if he is diagnosed with a severe mental disorder, another adult will be in charge of the person’s main decisions.
The nature of the findings of the assessments has not been made public, and court records show that Boudarian was released from prison.
LAPD said Boudarian was arrested Tuesday in a murder along Vanowen Street. Vanowen Street is several miles from the home where Kay and DeLuka were shot dead.
The LA County District Attorney’s Office did not answer questions about how the court’s mental health findings in the 2024 case affect their ability to prosecute new homicides, but said the evidence will be evaluated ahead of Boodarian’s first appearance in the courtroom set on Thursday.
Murder detectives believe Kay and Delca were shot dead on July 10th on Tuesday.
According to radio call details, the neighbor provided an explanation for Prowler.
Officers from LAPD’s West Valley Division were dispatched around 4pm but reported that they were unable to access the property due to the main gate being closed.
A LAPD helicopter flew through the house and a police officer on board at 4:17pm left the area, reporting “There are no signs of forced entry and we intend to clear it.”
Officers returned home Monday afternoon after demanding police do a welfare check.
This time, police saw blood marks in front of the house, smashed a glass door into the house, and found the bodies of the couple inside.
