Authorities arrested a man who claimed they were fired and injured multiple people while suffering a two-state shooting rampage that ended in the California desert town of Baker on Tuesday morning.

Officials say the shooting is believed to have started in Blue Diamond, Nevada on Monday night, and proceeded south to California, where the 35-year-old suspect was taken into custody.

In the attack, the suspect is believed to have shot a sleeping person in his car, but it is unclear what the shooting caused and why the victim was targeted.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement that Antonio Chaides allegedly took into custody, who allegedly fired guns and injured several people by fired guns at multiple locations through unassembled county areas near the California Nevada border.

Las Vegas law enforcement began searching for Chaides in Blue Diamond Monday evening after Las Vegas police officers suspected they had fired multiple shots on the victim sleeping in a truck.

The incident occurred around 10:25pm, police said in a statement in the 13,500 block of Blue Diamond Road. The victims were not harmed.

Hours later, authorities believe Chaides was involved in the second shooting in Jean, Nevada.

At about 2am, the man told Metropolitan Police in Las Vegas that he was sleeping in his car when the man began shooting him. He was not injured, but the suspect escaped.

A few minutes later, a third shot was reported in California.

San Bernardino’s agent found the man around 2:30am. He was located on the outskirts of Simar Road, not far from the Halorand Springs area, according to a statement that did not reveal the man’s condition.

About ten minutes later, deputies responded to another shooting. This time we’ll be at Baker’s Chevron Gas Station.

Authorities allege that Chaides fired several rounds inside a gas station through the backdoor, attacking the clerk. He also allegedly shot at two large parked rigs and hit one of the drivers.

All three victims were taken to a local hospital. Their status is unknown.

Deputies said Chaides was driving a black truck. They found his car heading south on the 15 highway. They chased him near Afton Road and safely arrested him about 20 miles away.
