In an interview with Weiss News earlier this year, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass continued to express his regret on his controversial trip to Ghana ahead of the devastating fire.

“I was asked, ‘Do you regret going?’ Yes, I don’t care if you’re out of town, if a member of your family is where you were, or if you were there.

“I’m not really trying to make excuses, but I wasn’t in the world where I knew the city was in danger when I left,” she added. “There’s absolutely no way, and if you think about it, if you take a step back, and when I came back, you know like, “Why didn’t you tell me?” And basically, the response was “someone who doesn’t expect the winds of Hurricane Force because we always have Santa Ana.” ”

The mayor faced intense scrutiny over the presidential delegation’s visit to Africa despite prior fire warnings. The Los Angeles Times reported that her team was aware of the risk of a fire before their trip.

She returned the day after the fire began to tear through her Los Angeles neighborhood, like a Pacific Pallisade where thousands of buildings were destroyed.

The LA mayor ripped for blocking an ice attack at a local park that was attacked by crime.

“Well, I mean I’ll be honest with you. Well, I didn’t get an explanation. That’s true. But I don’t think people expected the historic wind. It wasn’t just LA. It was the county too.”

“What’s common is when there’s a big weather event, these briefings happen and, um, they’re being started by the fire department or emergency department,” she said. “I was calling me, telling me, telling me, you know, this is ready to happen. Come on. I need to explain you and everything you know. It didn’t happen in the county.

On the flight back, she said she was on the phone for almost the entire 12 hours from Ghana to the US.

Social media Trump administrators erupt over the LA mayor’s response to the ice attack: “You’re a criminal too.”

“Well, they told me what was going on in the fire. We were preparing an emergency declaration. They were talking to the mayor. The council president, who is serving as mayor while I was gone. I don’t remember if I spoke to him or not, but I had calls, but sometimes there were a lot of people. The plane, and she didn’t even realize that there was Sky News, which went viral because she didn’t answer his questions.

Bus kicked Los Angeles Fire Department chief Christine Crawley out of her position in February, and Crawley failed to appeal for her removal.

“Our firefighters are supporting Chief Crowley as they stood up for the men and women of our department,” a United Firefighter from Los Angeles posted on X at the time.

In an interview, Bass claimed he “lied” about the budget and fire trucks.

“Yes, we had broken fire engines. Later we found out that those fire engines were broken because they were used in spare parts. [Crowley] He was sent home. And budget cuts and I don’t know why, and budget cuts that never happened,” she added.

“Yes,” Crawley responded specifically in an interview at the time of the fire when asked whether the city leader “failed.”

“What we did when we carried out the budget was that we were doing labor negotiations and we dumped the money for the fire. If the budget was signed earlier, we put it back into the budget when the labor negotiations were done. This is common.

When asked about the after-action report for the fire, Bass said, “I said I’d look and see, but they should now be finished.”

Fox News Digital reached out to Bass Office and Crowley. Fox News Digital also contacted the Los Angeles Fire Department, but did not immediately comment.
