The Menendez brothers will be physically present at a hearing of a res court in Van Nuis, as confirmed by the legal representatives of Geragos & Geragos.
The hearing, originally set for January 30th and 31st, was postponed to March 20th and 21st due to a devastating wildfire that struck Los Angeles in early January.
“The extension is due to the impact of recent wildfires on the extensive preparations needed for the hearing,” said the office of Los Angeles District Attorney Nathan Hochman.
The brothers have not been seen in court since July 1996 when they were sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole in the murder of their parents Jose and Mary Ruiz “Kitty” Menendez in 1989.
On October 24, 2024, Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascon officially recommended that Eric and Lyle Menendez, now 53 and 56, receive a res tin.
A hearing was held at Van Nuis Court on November 25th, 2024, where the next steps in the new sentence petition were discussed. The brothers were able to hear about the feed from the San Diego prison, but were not able to see it. They were expected to appear in video feeds, but technical issues made them unable to be seen together in court for the first time in decades.
Lyle and Erik Menendez’s highly anticipated resentment hearing is being rescheduled by a wildfire in Los Angeles County.
The judge gave newly elected Los Angeles District Attorney Nathan Hochman, who took office on December 2, to review the case and related court documents.
Entententengenting Hearing is scheduled for March 20th and 21st, 2025 at 8:30am at Van Nuys Courthouse.
