The Menendez brothers’ family will soon hold a press conference Thursday morning outside District Attorney Nathan Hochman’s office.
Justice for Eric and Lyle Coalition, a family-led initiative defending the release of Eric and Lyle Menendez, is fighting the recent announcement from the DA that he opposes the res-tinsing petition.
The DA said the brothers were lying about their self-defense in the 1989 murder of their parents
NBC4’s Robert Kobasik spoke with DA to discuss his 100 days in his new role and what it takes to consider responsiveness when the Menendez brothers’ families fight for freedom.
“Whether they ultimately provided complete insight into the breadth of their criminal violations, fully accepted responsibility for those actions is a major step towards the path of rehabilitation,” Hochman said.
“This idea that Eric and Lyle are not fully responsible or accountable for their actions is ridiculous. They have it,” said Anamaria Baralto, cousin of the Menendez brothers.
Ballard is scheduled to compete in a press conference.
The brothers’ family says the pair have experienced decades of rehabilitation, and the DA is keen on the statement the brothers made as traumatized young men.
A hearing has been set up on April 11th regarding allegations to withdraw the DA’s office restinsing petition.
Depending on the court’s decision, a hearing for resentententengenceence may be set up the following week.
