The Trump administration plans to implement a process that will ensure hardworking, law-abiding immigrant farm workers who may face deportation in Iowa.

The proposed process was shared by President Donald Trump at an event at the Iowa Fairgrounds on Thursday night, launching a year-long patriotic celebration to honor the country’s 250th birthday. Trump said the new plan will be in conjunction with the Department of Homeland Security, and the law for the measure is currently being drafted and is speaking from Iowa on Thursday evening.

“You know, they’ve worked for them for years, and we’re going to do something… we’re going to take charge of some kind of farmer,” Trump told the crowd of people present. “If the farmers were with one of these people who worked so hard, they would lie down all day, and we don’t have much to do that, but they don’t have anyone who works very well, and they know him very well, and some of the farmers literally cry when you see this – if the farmers are willing to guarantee these people in some way, I think I’ll say Christie.

“I don’t want to do it [border security] Trump added.

According to the US Trade Representative, Iowa is the second largest agricultural exporter in the country.

While announcing the new plans, Trump cited incidents where he heard that immigrants who had worked on farms for 15 years were “abandoned quite viciously.”

“We can’t do that,” Trump added. “We’ve started working with farmers and people who have hotels and leisure facilities.”

Earlier this week, when Trump previously suggested a new immigration exemption for farmers, he also suggested that the move could be implemented for workers in the hospitality industry.

While sharing new immigration proposals with crowds at the Iowa Fairgrounds on Thursday night, Trump spoke about potential criticism of the move by “seriously radical right people” within the GOP, rhetorically asking the crowd if they think these people “understand.”

Critics have already begun to ring after the president first nurtured the proposal earlier this week.

“So, if you get this right, should we look at the opposite approach regarding illegal immigration, as long as it’s in the construction, hotel or restaurant industry? This goes beyond disappointment.

The president noticed the move “in charge” farmers on Thursday evening, noting that responsibility for the issues that will ultimately arise will fall under their feet.

“If the farmers don’t do a good job, we’ll throw them hell out of the country. We’ll let the men go – we’ll keep the illegals and throw the farmers into hell,” Trump said. “Now, get ready, farmer, I’m telling you.”
